Effective tree management on a very old Oak.

We were contracted to carry out some tree management on a very large, very old Oak pollard. The tree has a fungus growing on it called Oak Polypore (Piptoporus quercinus), this particular fungus can cause extensive rot and structural weakness within the tree. With this in mind we have embarked on a long term management plan to reduce the height and spread of the tree over a period of 10 years. Every 2/3 years we will reduce it by another few metres to allow it to adapt, until finally it will be at a height where it is no threat to the neighbouring property. It was a grim day weather wise but job completed successfully.
